Le médecin, la pharmacie et le bien-être
Ce matin, Marc se sent mal. Il tousse beaucoup et il a une douleur dans la gorge. Il pense : « Est-ce un rhume, ou est-ce la grippe ? »
This morning, Marc feels unwell. He coughs a lot and he has a pain in his throat. He thinks: 'Is it a cold, or is it the flu?'
Marc prend un rendez-vous avec son médecin généraliste. Le cabinet médical est près de chez lui, dans le centre-ville.
Marc makes an appointment with his GP. The doctor's office is near his home, in the town center.
Dans la salle d'attente, il regarde une affiche sur le vaccin contre la grippe. Une femme à côté de lui a un pansement sur la main. Elle a une petite blessure, mais ce n'est pas grave.
In the waiting room, he looks at a poster about the flu vaccine. A woman next to him has a bandage on her hand. She has a small injury, but it's not serious.
Dans la salle d'attente, un garçon a un plâtre sur le bras. Sa mère explique qu'il a passé une radio à l'hôpital hier. Un autre patient éternue tout le temps.
In the waiting room, a boy has a cast on his arm. His mother explains that he had an X-ray at the hospital yesterday. Another patient keeps sneezing.
Enfin, c'est le tour de Marc. Le médecin regarde sa gorge et prend sa température. « Vous avez de la fièvre, » dit le médecin. « Et vous toussez beaucoup. »
Finally, it's Marc's turn. The doctor looks at his throat and takes his temperature. "You have a fever," says the doctor. "And you cough a lot."
« Quels sont vos symptômes ? » demande le médecin. Marc explique : « J'ai mal à la gorge, j'ai un mal de tête et je tousse la nuit. » Le médecin montre le thermomètre : trente-huit et demi.
"What are your symptoms?" asks the doctor. Marc explains: "I have a sore throat, I have a headache and I cough at night." The doctor shows him the thermometer: thirty-eight and a half.
« Avez-vous une allergie à un médicament ? » demande le médecin. Marc dit non. Le médecin sourit : « Ce n'est pas la grippe, c'est juste un rhume. Vous n'avez pas besoin d'aller aux urgences, et vous n'avez pas besoin de voir un spécialiste. »
"Do you have an allergy to any medication?" asks the doctor. Marc says no. The doctor smiles: "It's not the flu, it's just a cold. You don't need to go to the emergency room, and you don't need to see a specialist."
« Est-ce que j'ai besoin d'une piqûre ? » demande Marc, un peu inquiet. « Non, » répond le médecin. « Mais pour votre santé, restez au lit trois jours. »
"Do I need an injection?" asks Marc, a little worried. "No," answers the doctor. "But for your health, stay in bed for three days."
Le médecin écrit une ordonnance pour Marc. « Allez à la pharmacie, » dit-il. « Prenez des comprimés pour la douleur, et un sirop pour la toux. »
The doctor writes a prescription for Marc. "Go to the pharmacy," he says. "Get some tablets for the pain, and a syrup for the cough."
À la pharmacie, Marc donne son ordonnance au pharmacien. Le pharmacien lui donne le médicament : une boîte de comprimés et une bouteille de sirop.
At the pharmacy, Marc gives his prescription to the pharmacist. The pharmacist gives him the medication: a box of tablets and a bottle of syrup.
« Et surtout, beaucoup de repos ! » ajoute le pharmacien en souriant.
"And above all, lots of rest!" the pharmacist adds with a smile.
Marc rentre chez lui et se repose. Il prend ses comprimés et son sirop chaque jour. Après quelques jours, il n'a plus de fièvre et il ne tousse plus. Marc guérit vite, et il se sent enfin bien !
Marc goes home and rests. He takes his tablets and his syrup every day. After a few days, he no longer has a fever and he no longer coughs. Marc recovers quickly, and he finally feels good!
