Léo veut voyager cet été. Il choisit une destination : la ville de Nice, dans le sud de la France.
Léo wants to travel this summer. He chooses a destination: the city of Nice, in the south of France.
Léo regarde les prix. Un hôtel coûte cher, alors il réserve une chambre dans une auberge de jeunesse. Il réserve aussi un vol pour Nice.
Léo looks at the prices. A hotel is expensive, so he books a room in a youth hostel. He also books a flight to Nice.
Pour aller à l'aéroport, il achète un billet de train. Le train part tôt le matin.
To get to the airport, he buys a train ticket. The train leaves early in the morning.
Le jour avant le voyage, il fait ses valises. Il met ses vêtements dans une valise et dans un sac à dos. Ses bagages sont prêts.
The day before the trip, he packs his bags. He puts his clothes in a suitcase and in a backpack. His luggage is ready.
Il vérifie son passeport. Il n'a pas besoin de visa pour ce voyage, mais Nice est près de la frontière avec l'Italie, alors il regarde son passeport une deuxième fois.
He checks his passport. He doesn't need a visa for this trip, but Nice is close to the border with Italy, so he checks his passport a second time.
À l'aéroport, Léo montre sa carte d'embarquement. Il y a un retard d'une heure, mais heureusement, la compagnie n'annule pas le vol. Léo attend patiemment.
At the airport, Léo shows his boarding pass. There is a one-hour delay, but luckily the airline doesn't cancel the flight. Léo waits patiently.
À l'aéroport, Léo passe la douane sans problème. La douane pose seulement une question simple, et il continue vers l'avion.
At the airport, Léo goes through customs without a problem. Customs asks only one simple question, and he continues to the plane.
À l'auberge de jeunesse, une femme sympathique l'accueille à la réception. Elle lui donne la clé de sa chambre.
At the youth hostel, a friendly woman welcomes him at reception. She gives him the key to his room.
Le lendemain matin, Léo va à l'office de tourisme. Là, il trouve un petit guide avec une carte de la ville. Il décide de faire une excursion à la montagne.
The next morning, Léo goes to the tourist office. There, he finds a small guide with a map of the city. He decides to go on an excursion to the mountains.
Pendant l'excursion, il voit une belle vue sur la mer. Il achète aussi des souvenirs pour sa famille : des cartes postales et des chocolats.
During the excursion, he sees a beautiful view of the sea. He also buys souvenirs for his family: postcards and chocolates.
Pendant ses vacances, Léo rencontre d'autres touristes. Un Australien dans sa chambre a un gros décalage horaire : il dort toute la journée ! Un couple d'Allemands dort au camping, dans une petite tente. Ils ont une location de voiture, et ils proposent à Léo de visiter la côte avec eux. Léo regarde son plan de la ville et il accepte.
During his holiday, Léo meets other tourists. An Australian in his room has bad jet lag: he sleeps all day! A German couple is staying at the campsite, in a small tent. They have a rental car, and they offer to show Léo the coast. Léo looks at his city map and accepts.
Le soir, Léo prépare son itinéraire pour le lendemain : le vieux port le matin, puis la plage l'après-midi.
In the evening, Léo plans his route for the next day: the old port in the morning, then the beach in the afternoon.
Son séjour à Nice est court, mais Léo est très content. Il aime beaucoup voyager, et il veut déjà réserver un autre vol pour l'année prochaine.
His stay in Nice is short, but Léo is very happy. He likes traveling a lot, and he already wants to book another flight for next year.
